March 5th, 2007

Finally got home just before 10pm last night from Kingdom A&S in Newport, Oregon.

Nice leisurely trip home, late lunch, drive to Fabric Depot where EVERYTHING was 30% off!!!!
Picked up 7 bits of trim, all only 1/8th of a yard ea. @ 5" each, depending on the pattern repeat.
Only cost me $4 for all of them...  :)
One for an example of some trim for my Lord's dublet to be made in the future.
One for an example of trim he can weave.
The other 5 are trim that I will try my darndest to duplicate in bobbinlace.
2 are gold metalic, 2 silver metalic, 1 white.
The 2" wide gold metalic trim, was $29.99 a yard regular price!!!!  OUCH!!!!  Very Beautiful!!
One of the silver metalic would look good with tiny seed pearls dangling off them.
Putting these on cards in my sample book, so I won't lose them!!
Will take pic's and post later......

Then off to Powells.
Picked up 3 books: 1 on beading with Cabachons (sp), 2 on weaving.
The beading one will be for my Lord, he made the pearl and emerald earrings, broach, and necklace I wore at the event.
Weaving books: 1 basic book about looms, warping, and weaving on them. I just bought a floor loom, so this will be really helpful. 1 book on weaving patterns, very helpful once I get the loom put together, and ready to start....

Must get to work, will post more regarding my most honored teachers elevation to Dame Eleanor.
Tonight, need to burn a copy of my pictures (250+) of the weekend, and get it to her so she may post ones she wishes.

Busy working on finishing projects for Kingdom A&S and my honored Teacher's upcoming Vigil and Elevation to Laurel..... (No, I'm not entering the competition, but will be there to help my Teacher in her time of need.)

At our Canton's Tea Party of the Smoldering Sow this past weekend, I got some help from three very talented costuming ladies.

HL G, marked both my new gold Underdress and purple Norse Apron Dress. Only have to actually sew the hem now. Then my new outfit for Friday Night's Vigil for my honored Teacher is finished. They just happen to be her heraldic colours, don't know why people were saying I look like an ad for the UW Huskies..... hee hee hee

Also, with taking in my bodice for my green/gold Elizabethan outfit... Lady Faileen helped me by taking apart the front closure of the bodice, and repinned the hook/eye strip to the green velvet, then I stitched it up. Next, HL Solieg pinned the green linen in correctly, so I could finish up the stitching. Now just have to finish up the last of the stitching on this. Then it will be ready for the Saturday's Elevation.

Without their help, only about 5 minutes of work for both of them, it would have taken me at least a week to get it all to lay correctly, and I would have screwed up the velvet terribly....

The Linen Bobbinlace trim is ready for the linen lawn hankerchief. HL Solieg did a beautiful job on her rolled hem. Now I just have to hand-stitch the lace onto the edge.

Will need to go through all the extras for both outfits, and make sure I have everything ready to go....

My Teacher will shudder if she sees this part, do I won't say how long we have to make sure we have everything ready....

Also, on a different note, our All Champions / All Thing is coming up next month.
I've been asked to teach again on Sunday. So, since I think people are ready for a new class, and not my buttons again, so I'm going to try to teach Bobbinlace 101. I know I won't be half as good as HL Kassandra, but I'll at least try not to shame her. I'm making up about 5 small pillows, since I have enough bobbins for 5 students. So, after Kingdom A&S, I'll be working on making those up, and getting the paperwork ready for that. Also, I'll rework the sample piece, so I'll remember how to do the stitches... I think the teacher should at least remember how to do what she is teaching.... hee hee hee

I've been working on making up some samples of different patterns from the New Modlebook. Been interesting.... will be a good sample book.
Have to quit working on that, and get my other sewing projects done.
Good incentive to get the sewing finished, then can get back to the bobbinlace....

Was there any doubt????

What Fantasy Archetype Are you?

The Seasoned Veteran Friend
You are the Seasoned Veteran Friend! You resemble Aragorn (Lord of The Rings), Merlin (Arthurian Legend), Han Solo (Star Wars), The Marquis (Neverwhere), Sirius Black (Harry Potter) and Chase (Wizard's First Rule). You are exceedingly loyal, tricky and hardy. You regularly pull the Unlikely Hero, Mentor and Pillor-of-Strength Love Interest out of trouble and into safety. Beware The Traitor, who will make your job intensely difficult. And don't coddle the Unlikely Hero too much, he has to learn how to fend for himself. Anyway, everyone admires you and your resourcefullness / reliability - good going!

Finished my 42" of bobbinlace, for my wedding hanky.

I've written over 13K words for my ceremony,
and I know at certain parts, I'm going to need that hanky!! I know Mikael will.
Heck, he teared up during the proposal, so I KNOW he'll tear up during the ceremony. I've added 11 Scottish Traditions to the ceremony. When Pastor Reggie explains some of them, I know some people will need their hankies too.
I even have an actual decendant of Scotland's own William Wallace taking part in the ceremony!!!! He's a good friend.

If you have a sword, and wish to take part in the Arch Of Swords at the end, the PLEASE, bring it!!! Would love to have 50+ swords partaking in this tradition!!!!

Have all of the kilts made, one more skirt to make.
Make a 4-part ribbon braid.
Finalize plans for repast, wedding cake, music/dance.
Final fitting for my outfit.
Pick up plates and such.
Pack the RINGS!! Have to make sure I do that!!! hee hee
Cut ivy for the decorations......
About 10 other small such tasks....

Let's hope I don't go crazy in these next 9 days.

Drats!!! Didn't find anyone to keep me sane!!!
Any volunteers????

You scored as Maximus. After his family was murdered by the evil emperor Commodus, the great Roman general Maximus went into hiding to avoid Commodus's assassins. He became a gladiator, hoping to dominate the colosseum in order to one day get the chance of killing Commodus. Maximus is valiant, courageous, and dedicated. He wants nothing more than the chance to avenge his family, but his temper often gets the better of him.
